December Slogging/Running

12/13 – 12/31

Ok, so I ran for the rest of the month, but totally slacked in updating my training log. As with most things, I’m going for a fresh start in January. If you really want to see what I ran (as that’s how I was going to cheat on updating my training log) you can see Matt’s training for now.

12/12

75 minutes, to Green Lake, twice around, then home. This was much more tiring than it should have been, given that I’m just not in as good of shape as I’d like to be. I need to get better at doing more of these 9-10 mile runs more regularly.

I’ve been super sporadic with running and feel like I’ve run less simply because I haven’t been in the mood to do it. The rain here in Seattle has been pretty depressing. I’ve also been sitting A LOT lately with working on the book editing, and I can tell I’m feeling a little soft. It’s time to get serious again, especially if we plan on racing starting at the beginning of the year.

12/8 – 12/11

Ran 3 of those 4 days, mainly about 45 minutes to 75 minutes, some hills, some trail, mostly pavement or gravel at Green Lake. Total slug through these days.

12/7

Finally got back on the track after a couple of weeks’ delay and two failed attempts at a workout. It felt good to get the wheels turning a little faster once again, even if my top speed is still slow. Did a 10 minute warm up, then 8×400 with a 400 rest. I tried to do a 200 rest after the first 3, and sort of succeeded, but I could tell after the first 3 that I wouldn’t be able to keep that up, which is apparent by my 4th rep’s time. I didn’t have a logical reason for doing that, other than I didn’t want Matt to wait for me for too long after he finished his workout first.

Times were as follows: 1:39, 1:39, 1:37, 1:40, 1:36, 1:36, 1:36, 1:38

12/1 – 12/6

Lots of Sloooow miles here with Matt, in the rain, in Seattle, most likely around Green Lake, our go-to running location. Did one 3 hour run on a Sunday on Tiger Mountain that kicked my butt.
